Memo From Dr. Cynthia Olivo: Campus Incident Update
To our campus community,
At around 6 a.m. this morning, one of our Campus Safety officers approached three individuals on campus, one of who looked as if they were in medical distress. One of the individuals began a physical altercation with the officer. The officer called for backup and other Campus Safety officers and the Fullerton Police Department quickly responded. All three suspects are now in custody. Our Campus Safety officer is being treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Although there is no continuing threat resulting from this incident, I want to remind everyone that it takes all of us to maintain a safe campus. If you haven’t already, please put Fullerton College’s Campus Safety Emergency number into your phone: 714-992-7777. Our officers are here for your safety, so if you see something, say something.
And always practice smart safety measures while on campus, including walking with a group of people, calling for an officer escort if you feel uneasy, and constantly be aware of your surroundings.
I want to genuinely thank our Campus Safety officers and Fullerton Police for their quick response to this incident. We are very fortunate to be supported by people who take public safety seriously.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cynthia Olivo
President
