FC Presents Experience as a Hispanic Serving Institution
Dean of Mathematics and Computer Sciences Mark Greenhalgh, dean of Natural Sciences Richard Hartmann and counselor Jeannie Mitsch presented at the 30th annual Hispanic Colleges and Universities Conference in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, Oct. 10.
Their workshop, “Show Me the Money! From Grant Funds to Institutionalization” was geared for current Hispanic Serving Institution STEM grantees looking to institutionalize successful aspects of their programs. They discussed recruitment, on-boarding, the cohort model for instruction, the importance of tutoring and mentoring, and providing undergraduate research opportunities, and other activities to support STEM students. They also discussed how Fullerton College plans to weave the most successful activities into the fabric of the institution for the continued success of STEM students.
HACU’s Annual Conference provides a forum for the sharing of information and ideas for the most promising practices in the education of Hispanics.
