Speech and Debate Takes Top Awards at PSCFA Warm Up

Fullerton College sent six competitors and took top awards at the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association (PSCFA) on Sunday, September 23 at El Camino College.
Tournament highlights include, Macao Coleman debuting his new speech performed at Convocation for the first time. Maceo walked away with a first place finish for his Black Panther communication analysis presentation and receiving a PSCFA certificate of superior performance. “It felt great to win the first tournament of the year”, said Coleman. “My goal is to keep getting better everyday and bring home success to Fullerton College.” His dedicated summer work on the speech showed in his strong competitive start.
Meanwhile making a competitive debut, new Hornet Forensics teammate, Arlene Albarran finished third place with her persuasive speech about obstetric violence and received a PSCFA certificate of excellent performance. Coleman and Albarran defeated more experienced competitors from San Diego State University, Rio Hondo College and several other community colleges.
The team resumes competition October 6-7th at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University. The Fullerton College Speech and Debate team is coached by Jeff Samano, Toni Nielson and Jeanette Rodriguez. Students interested in joining the team in the spring of 2019 should enroll in Communication Studies 138.
