Fullerton College to Host Open Forums
Following the passage of Measure J, Fullerton College is now embarking on a comprehensive planning process that will determine the location and sequencing of building and renovation projects on its campus.
As an initial step in this planning, the college is seeking input from the campus community and the community at-large at a series of open forums scheduled through the middle of April. Each forum will have the same format and will be held:
Campus Forums:
- April 6, 1-2:30 p.m., Building 200, Rooms 224-228
- April 15, 3-4:30 p.m., Building 200, Rooms 224-228
Community Forums:
- March 23, 6-8 p.m., Building 200, Room 224
- April 15, 6-8 p.m., Wilshire Auditorium
- April 21, 2015, 6-8 p.m., Fullerton College, Building 200, Room 224
- RSVP to a community forum at fullcollbuild.eventbrite.com.
At these forums, interested parties are invited to give their input on proposed building locations and engage in a dialog with Vice President of Administrative Services Richard Storti and representatives from the DLR Group, which is an integrated design firm providing architecture and planning consultation to the college.
Measure J was passed by a supermajority (55%) of the voters in the North Orange County Community College District on Nov. 4, 2014. The bond provides $574 million to NOCCCD for critical facilities needs such as upgrades to antiquated science labs, lecture halls, and classrooms, as well as technology and infrastructure to better prepare students for growing fields of study and high-skill careers, and expansions of veterans’ resource centers to train and re-train veterans as they transition into the civilian workforce. Facility renovations will happen on each of the District’s three campuses: Fullerton College, Cypress College and the School of Continuing Education.
At Fullerton College, those projects include: a parking structure, the Lab School, horticulture, a performing arts center, a student services building, a maintenance operations building and renovations to Buildings 100, 300, 500 and 600.
