Printing & Design Student Takes Home 3rd Place in Southern California Packaging Competition

Fullerton College Printing and Design student Gilbert Garay, Jr. recently competed in Printing Industries Association, Inc. of Southern California’s (PIASC) R.A.I.S.E. Foundation’s annual competition and took home a 3rd place award in the College Packaging Competition.

Every year, PIASC’s R.A.I.S.E. Foundation provides grants to reward students who participate in its annual competitions. These grants are made possible by donations from members during an annual fundraising drive. This year, the organization raised more than $10,000 and received more than 300 entries for the PIASC R.A.I.S.E. Foundation competition.

Garay is one of 22 high school and college students who were awarded for their submissions in the categories of coloring book design, bookmark design, packaging design, and poster design.

In the packaging design competition, students were asked to develop a new product and create a perfume or cologne box. Garay created a unique pyramid design earning him a 3rd place recognition and cash prize among several college and university students. More information about the competition and winners is available in PIASC’s September newsletter.
