Special Delivery: Fullerton College Sends 6,000 Welcome Packages to New Students
New students of Fullerton College are sporting some fresh new spirit gear around town after nearly 6,000 welcome packages were mailed to first-time students in late August. The packages, which included a custom Fullerton College mask, pennant, vinyl sticker and student resource guide, served as a small gift to help welcome first-time students to the Hornet family and build community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

6,000 new students received a welcome package from the college in lieu of the traditional Smart Start Saturday event.
“In lieu of Fullerton College’s annual Smart Start Saturday welcome event, the packages were mailed to students as way to welcome them to Fullerton College and help build a sense of community and pride,” said Campus Marketing and Outreach Assistant Melissa Serrato. “New students want to feel connected to their college, and we hope this special delivery helps in some way with that.”
Many students took to Instagram stories and social media last week to share their enthusiasm with photos and videos of their Hornet packages.
In addition to the spirit gear, the Student Resource Guide features information and quick access to resources along with a directory of phone numbers, websites, and emails to keep handy. The resource guide is just one of the many tools available to help students navigate services and support in this online environment, Serrato said. Many student-facing websites have also been updated and information continues to be shared through the President’s Weekly newsletters, events, and social media.
