North Orange County Community College District Reaches Out to ITT Tech Students
The North Orange County Community College District, which encompasses Fullerton College, Cypress College, and the School of Continuing Education, is hosting an information session designed specifically for former ITT Tech students who are exploring new options to continue their education. The session will take place on Friday, October 7 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the NOCCCD District Office located at 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim, CA 92801. Parking will be free in any of the student parking lots.
Counselors and staff will be on hand to provide attendees with an overview of areas of study offered at Fullerton College, Cypress College and the School of Continuing Education. Staff will be available to address the individual educational needs of participants. ITT Tech units do not directly transfer to NOCCCD schools, however there are options to create smooth transitions, such as credit-by-exam and/or equivalency, which counselors will be prepared to discuss.
“Our hearts go out to former ITT Tech students, and we have dedicated resources in place to help them transition to a community college,” said NOCCCD Chancellor Cheryl Marshall.
In addition, staff will be available to address questions regarding financial aid, student-veteran resources, assessment, spring enrollment, and a variety of other student support services offered at each school.
Fullerton College and Cypress College offer numerous academic degree programs and career technical certificate programs. A number of certificate programs related to ITT Tech programs include: Drafting/Design; Construction Management; Accounting; Business; Health Information Technology; and Criminal Justice/Administration of Justice. Former ITT Tech students, who studied in these fields, might be able to earn credits by examination.
SCE offers short-term vocational training with no enrollment fee. Students can earn a career certificate in as little as six months and gain upgraded job skills through hands-on, quality training. Classes are offered during the day and evening hours to accommodate working adults. Certificate programs include Electrical Trainee, Business Management, Quality Assurance Management for Medical Devices, as well as Allied Health training programs.
The average cost of full-time tuition at Fullerton and Cypress colleges is $1,104 a year, and many students qualify for tuition assistance under the California Community College Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver. Many SCE classes are free of charge.
